Try it safely

Meet your typing rhythm.

Open Ghost Writer, paste a short sample, press Start, and click this field during the countdown. Text here stays in this page and disappears when you reload. Review your draft before using it elsewhere.

Ghost Writer prepares draft text. It never presses Enter or clicks Send or Submit. Paragraph appearance can vary between editors.

Effective October 8, 2026

Privacy, in plain words.

What Ghost Writer does

Ghost Writer inserts text you supply into a webpage editor you choose, using adjustable pace, profiles, a countdown, and pause/stop controls. It prepares drafts. It does not press Enter, click Send or Submit, choose recipients, or submit content for you. Review your destination, content, and recipients before sending or submitting anything yourself.

Text you supply may contain personal information. Local processing still means the extension handles that information. Ghost Writer does not scrape document text to build a history, maintain a browsing-history database, or send your draft to a developer server.

Chrome's debugger API provides input and target checks for the chosen tab after you press Start. Chrome displays a debugging banner while connected. The connection can remain during a manual pause and ends on Stop or completion. Closing the side panel alone does not end a session.

Sharing and network behavior

Ghost Writer has no developer-operated account, draft-upload, advertising, or analytics service. It does not sell handled data, send it to advertisers, or use it for profiling. Its executable scripts and assets are packaged with the extension; it does not load remote executable code.

The webpage you choose receives the inserted text through its normal input behavior. That website may save, transmit, or otherwise act on it under its own behavior and policies, including autosaving a draft. The extension does not control the website's data practices. Local extension processing does not make the destination website offline or prevent it from reacting to input.

The browser and Chrome Web Store may separately process installation, browser, or store information under their own policies. This document describes Ghost Writer's store version, not those separate services.

Retention and your controls

Draft saving is off by default. Enabling Save draft on this device stores the supplied text locally. Turning that option off or choosing Forget saved draft removes the saved draft while leaving current text visible in the open panel. Clear text removes the current composer text. These actions do not remove text already entered into a webpage or copies you have downloaded or shared.

Preferences and custom profiles remain locally until you change or remove them, clear extension data, or uninstall. Chrome removes local extension storage when the extension is uninstalled. Exported profile files are separate copies that you control. Profile exports include settings and profile data rather than your draft.

Input plans and session details can remain in extension memory until replaced or the relevant extension context unloads. Stop ends input; it does not promise immediate memory erasure or erase previously inserted webpage text.

Download support info creates a local JSON file with the extension version, browser user agent, and typing settings. It excludes draft/document text, page URLs, and browsing history. It is not sent automatically.

Limited use

Ghost Writer uses information obtained through Chrome APIs only for the disclosed draft-input controls and local preferences. Its use of that information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy's Limited Use restrictions. The extension does not give the publisher access to local drafts, sell handled data, use it for advertising, or use it for lending decisions.

Website reports and email support

Contact imaginelearningman@gmail.com for privacy or support questions. If you choose to email text, screenshots, or diagnostic information, the publisher receives what you send. The extension does not send those materials automatically. Gmail handles the email, and the publisher uses it to respond to your request. You may request deletion of messages you send; copies held by your own email provider remain outside the publisher's control.

The publisher will update this policy when the store version's data practices change and identify the effective date above.

Website report form

The support website is separate from the extension. It offers an optional Concern / bug form. When you press Submit report, the website sends your concern, description, and optional reply email through Sites hosting and Formspree to imaginelearningman@gmail.com, handled by Gmail. The form does not automatically receive your extension draft, page URL, or document contents. Only include information you choose to send. Do not include passwords, sensitive document text, or personal information about other people.

The hosting service processes connection information to serve the site. The form uses a signed, essential browser cookie that lasts up to one day, plus an available trusted network address, to enforce a five-minute cooldown on the server. The database holds only keyed hashes of these identifiers and cooldown expiry times, not your report contents or raw network address. Expired cooldown records are removed in batches when reports are processed. Clearing cookies can reset a browser identifier; network limits may apply to people sharing a connection. This reduces abuse but does not promise to prevent every form of spam.

The website first validates your report and reserves the cooldown on its server, then your browser sends the report to Formspree. Formspree processes the report and browser connection information, forwards the report, and stores a 30-day submission archive on the free plan. See Formspree's privacy policy and plan and retention details. The current beta uses a free plan limited to 50 reports per month. If the service cannot accept another report, the website keeps your text and offers the direct email contact. The publisher receives the report in Gmail and uses it for support and product improvements. Reports are not posted publicly. Ask the privacy contact to delete a report; include enough information to locate it. Provider-held copies are governed by their own retention and privacy practices.

A success message displayed by the form means Formspree accepted the report. It is not an inbox delivery receipt. If the provider cannot confirm acceptance, the form keeps your text and explains how to retry after the cooldown. The extension itself never sends support reports automatically.
